Canon CPS and a 48-Hour Turnaround

I shoot mostly with Canon. On a recent trip to Paris, my R5 Mark II spent a good stretch in light rain. While shooting, it started rattling and vibrating internally. I couldn’t tell whether it was the shutter or the in-body image stabilizer acting up. I set the camera aside to dry out for twenty-four hours, and the noise stopped. The RF 70-200mm f/2.8 mounted on it performed without issue throughout.

Once home, I sent both the body and lens to Canon Professional Services as a precaution. Canon completed an 18-point maintenance service on the R5 II and inspected and cleaned the lens. Both arrived back spotless and functioning exactly as they should, with the inspection, service, and overnight shipping covered by my CPS Platinum membership. I shipped everything out on a Wednesday; it was back on my doorstep Friday morning. A complete round trip, fully serviced, in under forty-eight hours.

Support like that is rare these days. Canon deserves credit for standing behind its gear and its photographers.
